Shiwan pottery and sculpture technique has the characteristics of humanity, locality and nationality, and has a unique artistic style in creation. The subjects of Shiwan pottery sculpture are rich in content, such as flowers, birds, fishes and insects, beasts and domestic animals, fruits and vegetables, work in the field, scenes of life, historical figures, opera stories, etc. Mr. Wen Dongdong introduced in detail the pottery sculpture technique of Shiwan doll. Represented by the figure shape, the pottery sculpture technique of “Shiwan dolls” has a good combination of form and spirit, which absorbs the essence of various cultures and arts, combines high realism and moderate exaggeration, and combines both the interest of life and the taste of art, forming a distinctive local style. Teachers and students at the scene listened attentively to Mr. Dongdong Wen’s sharing and were immersed in it. “Pottery is to express the artist’s thoughts through a certain carrier, and the inclusiveness of Shiwan pottery is more focused on the tolerance of humanistic culture and the acceptance of various cultures’ development and growth in Shiwan.” Mr. Wen Dongdong said. He hoped that the students can inherit and carry forward China’s excellent traditional culture, take over the “baton” of history, and find a new balance between tradition and modernity, art and market, specifically in the field of Shiwan pottery and sculpture, the production of materials, techniques, experience and skills in pottery, aesthetic culture and other fields.
